Tatcha SKincare Review part 3: The Rice Wash, The Serum Stick, the Kissu Lip Mask

First up is the Rice Face Wash.

Brand’s description: A gently effective, cream cleanser that washes away impurities without stripping skin, leaving your complexion softer and more luminous.

pH-Neutral Amino Acid Base - This gentle base removes impurities without stripping skin of its essential oils. Unlike most pH-neutral cleansers, this formula foams into a creamy lather, leaving skin silky, smooth, and well-moisturized. This key ingredient also helps to balance the pH-level of the skin, which helps the skin function properly.

Japanese Rice Powder - Used in classical Japanese cleansing rituals, rice powder naturally softens and boosts luminosity, while keeping the skin well moisturized.

Okinawa Algae Blend + Hyaluronic Acid - A special blend of Okinawa algae and hyaluronic acid captures water to help replenish skin’s natural moisture reservoir, immediately leaving skin soft, comforted, and deeply nourished. It also helps to replenish ceramides to ensure optimum skin barrier function, aiding in the reduction of future moisture loss, for skin that is visibly smooth and plump with hydration.

I feel like this wash is a more gentle version of The Deep Cleanse, and a watery version of the Face Polish. It’s got the distinct Tatcha rice scent (same as in the Face Polish), and I really enjoy using it on the morning.

There are rice powders mixed in the texture, but they feel gentle and is barely noticeable.

Next is the Serum Stick

Brand’s description: A concentrated solid serum of 80% squalane and Japanese lemon balm that targets signs of aging and dryness instantly and over time, keeping skin and makeup fresh throughout the day.

Smooths dry fine lines instantly and over time. Ideal for perking up the eye area, it also helps address laugh lines and other areas of crepiness wherever dehydration appears.

Locks in moisture instantly and over time. Weightless, all-natural squalane glides on easily to soften, comfort and lock in moisture, alleviating and minimizing skin and makeup dryness.
Creates a dewy cushion for makeup and refreshes. Melts into clean skin seamlessly, preventing makeup from settling into lines and improving blendability. Over makeup, it refreshes dry spots throughout the day and imparts a natural glow.

Glide on anytime, anywhere you desire to add smoothness and moisture.

Can be used over makeup to refresh and create subtle glow.

Japanese Lemon Balm - Lemon balm, or kousui hakka, translates to “caring for others” in the Japanese language of flowers, and has been used for centuries to help calm inflammation. It visibly reduces fine lines and crepiness while helping to minimize the UV damage that can cause these signs of aging. With purity and quality in mind, we source our lemon balm from a private farm in the mountains of Japan.

Squalane - All-natural squalane works instantly to richly moisturize and improve the skin barrier, locking in moisture and minimizing dryness all day. The weightless emollient absorbs easily without clogging pores or leaving behind an oily residue.

Hadasei-3 - This trio of antioxidant-rich Japanese superfoods reveals soft, healthy-looking skin. Featuring Uji Green Tea (known to detoxify and help prevent signs of premature aging), Okinawa Red Algae (rich in polysaccharides, essential for skin water retention and renewal), and Akita Rice (a nourishing moisturizer, rich in essential proteins).

Personally I wouldn’t use this on a daily basis. Rather I prefer to use it when I travel since its so multi tasking and easy to carry around. I also think this is a great face moisturizer for long plane rides.

And lastly is the Kissu Lip Mask

Brand’s description: A leave-on jelly treatment of squalane and Japanese peach that restores lips to full lushness.

Elegant, non-sticky jelly melts into skin and layers on to comfort, hydrate, and lock in moisture.

Plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles for a supple, firm look.
Restores essential moisture to flaky, parched lips for a smooth, soft texture.

Japanese Peach Extract - A traditional Japanese beauty secret used centuries ago to help repair damaged lips. Works with orange peel extract to revitalize and calm irritation.

Japanese Camellia Oil - Rich in oleic acid, vitamins, and nourishing Omegas 3, 6, and 9, this featherweight oil has been prized in Asia for centuries for its superb ability to help seal in moisture.

Squalane - All-natural squalane works instantly to richly moisturize and improve the skin barrier, locking in moisture and minimizing dryness all day. The weightless emollient absorbs easily without clogging pores or leaving behind an oily residue.

Do I need to continue? If reading the brand description of Kissu doesn’t convince you to try this balm, then I will.

First, its the Japanese Peach scent. It’s not the usual peach scent that you get from artificial chemicals. This doesn’t small like products Toofaced’s Peach collection, but rather it smells like nectarine with a tiny bit of sourness. It’s just divine.

Second, this thing is so moisturizing! It’s not waxy like a lip balm, but is a jelly. So it feels like I’m wearing a moisturizing gloss.

Bottom line is, if you like Tatcha and lip masks, then this is a must try!

Tip: if you don’t want to waste product on your fingers, use the included spatula to scoop the gel.
