Haircare Haul and My obsession with Ouai: the best smelling hair products ever!

Ouai Haircare

Ouai Haircare

So I did a huge haircare haul during the Sephora Thailand private sale, and so I just had to stock up on my Ouai favourite products.

The reason I love Ouai so much is because of the scent. I have not yet to find another brand with a better smelling scent! I love the feeling when I put them on my head. It’s like putting on hair perfume. I really salute the Ouai scent.

Ouai calls it the North Bondi Scent

North Bondi: Bergamot, Italian Lemon, Rose De Mai, Magnolia, Lily, Blackberry, Violet, Cedar-wood, Amber, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and White Musk.

I effing love Bergamot, Rose de Mai, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Musk. So I guess now you can see why I’m so obsessed with the scent haha.

My favourite products is obviously the hair conditioner. I love all the formulas, because they all smell the same haha. But I won’t be writing about them today. Hair conditioner is hair conditioner, nothing revolutionary.

On this blog I’ll focus on other products.

Ouai Dry Shampoo the Dry Shampoo Foam.

Ouai Dry Shampoo the Dry Shampoo Foam.

I bought 2 of their dry shampoo formulas. The Dry Shampoo Shampooing Sec (normal dry shapoo), and the Dry Shampoo Foam.

Ouai Dry Shampoo

Ouai Dry Shampoo

OK First up is the Dry Shampoo

Official Description: A dry shampoo that neutralizes product build-up and oil, leaving hair instantly refreshed with a light, airy scent. No suspicious white spots.

Well, I gotta say, I hated it lol. I expected so much, and it just . . . didn’t give the result i was expecting. Other dry shampoos that I have used are powdery and absorbs the oil in my hair (I have no problem with some excess powder, they’ll fall away eventually).

But this one left my hair chunky and hard - like a hair spray. My hair was less oily obviously. I mean it did the job, but I just didn’t like the way my hair felt stiff like a bird’s nest.

The good part? The Ouai scent lasted all effing day and I couldn’t small the perfume I was wearing at all! All I can smell was the Ouai scent! Can’t wait to buy their perfume once it’s available in my country.

Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam

OK next is the Dry Shampoo Foam.

Here’s the official description: Hit restart (for real) with this unique, foaming dry shampoo. It works without water to thoroughly cleanse and refresh hair while adding instant volume and just-showered shine. Unlike typical dry shampoos, our foam never leaves a white cast or a powdery residue, just bouncy hair that looks like you just washed it.

Ummmmm Uhhhhhhhhh nope. I hated this one even more than the Dry Shampoo haha. I don’t know, it seems to make my hair look even oilier. I don’t know how. OK the description does say it adds instant volume and a “just-showered shine”. I guess it was that part.

My main purpose for any dry shampoo was to reduce oiliness and shininess, and so I guess I made a bad decision in buying this product.

Ouai Leave In Conditioner

Ouai Leave In Conditioner

OK next is something I like! The Leave In Conditioner

Here’s the official description: Equipped with a new name and new tricks, our Smooth Spray is now Leave-in Conditioner and has even more moisturizing properties and enhanced heat protection. Spritz onto damp hair to detangle, protect, moisturize and fight frizz.

What I love the most about it? THE SCENT. I mean it’s a lovely leave in conditioner and all but can I just rave about THE SCENT again? This is just like leave on hair perfume.

OK I also bought some more products to try.

First up is IGK Low Key

It’s a scalp scrub but here’s the official description: This nutrient-dense, sulfate-free cooling scrub is like a detox in a bottle. Designed to eliminate impurities, it soothes and purifies your scalp after you’ve over-indulged in heat styling and coloring, locks will look shinier, softer and healthier. Apple cider vinegar clarifies the scalp, while walnut oil helps hydrate and nourish the scalp and hair. Being LOW KEY is anything but basic.

The formula is a brownish gel with sugar-like beads. Similar to a body scrub in my opinion.

I have tried using Low Key for a few weeks now, and here’s my thoughts on it. First, I love the cooling feeling it gives (cause it has mint). I live in a really hot country, and washing my hair in warm water makes me sweat. This minty feel is just so refreshing for me. On another note, those who live in cold places wouldn’t wanna use this in the winter I’m sure. However, I don’t feel like it really does anything to my scalp. It’s hard to scrub in the first place, I don’t feel like the beads touch my scalp, cause they get stuck in my hair (I doubt any other brand could do better though). I just ended up using this as a refreshing shampoo. All the same, I feel like it MIGHT have helped in making my scalp oil up a bit slower. Not sure if this was the result of the scrub, or if it was because of the extra wash.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal and Teatree Scalp Treatment

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal and Teatree Scalp Treatment

Lastly is the Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal and Teatree Scalp Treatment

Who It's For: For those with a dry, irritated, and flaky scalp and/or product buildup.

What It Is: This unique treatment infuses Binchotan charcoal to draw impurities from the scalp and hair follicle to remove buildup and provide the foundation for optimal scalp health. A cooling blend of peppermint and spearmint oils reduces scalp itchiness and tea tree oil has anti-septic and healing properties that reduce scalp irritation and inflammation. Witch Hazel water helps to normalize oil production to prevent an oily scalp while sodium hyaluronate and aloe keep the scalp balanced and hydrated. Super-vitamin, Biotin, provides essential nutrients to the hair follicle to support healthy hair growth.

What It Does: Detoxifies and removes buildup from the scalp, soothes itchy, irritated, and flaky scalp, and hydrates the scalp to prevent dryness and flakiness.

How To Use: Part the hair into sections, apply 1-2 drops to each partition and massage into the scalp. Do not rinse out. The treatment should be applied after washing and before styling. It can also be applied before bedtime as a pre-shampoo scalp treatment.

This was the perfect product that I need. I had dry and flaky scalp, and I needed something to cure it.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal and Teatree Scalp Treatment

I have started using this, but I am not sure about the results yet. But what I like about it is the cooling sensation when I put it in my hair. Super refreshing and smells nice too. I do not recommend using this in winter though lol

It’s watery and seems to absorb well, and does not make my hair oil up any faster at all. Maybe the oil control claim is true. Also I think my scalp has gotten healthier after using it. I will continue to use it.
